The planned activities
of WQRA include the development of an Education program focused on the
training of high quality students at the postgraduate level. In addition,
WQRA will fund Summer Research Scholarships to provide talented undergraduate
students with an introduction to water-related research.
WQRA-ARC
PhD Scholarship
This full scholarship
($25,000 stipend) is available for an ARC-funded project to be undertaken
in Adelaide. The project involves characterising the interactions of
Cryptosporidium with other microorganisms isolated from naturally
occurring biofilms and sediments. An outline
of the project and application details are available.
PhD Top-up Scholarships
Four PhD top-up scholarships are available - the Nancy Millis Scholarship
and 3 WQRA Top-up scholarships. These scholarships are available for
a range of PhD projects at WQRA member universities. Project
outlines and application details are available. Note: applicants
must also apply for an Australian Postgraduate Award (or equivalent)
scholarship at the host university for the relevant project.
Summer Research
Scholarships
Applications for 2008/09 WQRA Summer Research Scholarships have now
closed and the successful applicants have been notified.
These 10-week scholarships provide talented undergraduates with an introduction
to career and research opportunities relevant to the needs of the Australian
water industry.
The first round
of WQRA Summer Research Scholarships was offered for the summer of 2007/08
in conjunction with the final round of CRC Summer Research Scholarships.
These students presented
their work at a joint Seminar
in Melbourne on 21 February 2008.
